DATA LOGGING AND DISPLAY OF ENGINE HEALTH FUNCTIONS:
Some data system sensors don’t really help you go faster but are used
to monitor the engine (and possibly the drive train) and provide
information for driver display. These can be added to ANY of our system
packages and include:
- Oil, Water, Gearbox, Exhaust Gas, or Cylinder Head Temperature.
- Oil, Fuel, or Gear Box Lube Pressures.
- Any other temperature or pressure.
These sensors enable the driver to see alarms or warnings on the Co
Pilot 2 display when something is wrong or out of range. All of the
Co Pilot 2+
systems include some of these
functions.
DATA LOGGING AND DISPLAY TO IMPROVE PERFORMANCE:
The minimum sensor set for road racing consists of:
- Lateral G
- Wheel Speed
- Engine RPM
-
GPS or Photo Receiver (for lap times)
The
CP+ 1000 package
includes these sensors, which enable track
mapping and basic performance analysis. This sensor set enables map based
analysis of driving, handling, gearing and engine performance.
Track Master
will automatically calculate and display Braking
Gs, Cornering Gs, RPM's in each gear, gear usage (on a track map),
over-revs, Speeds, segment times, and more.
The next “step” in a Road Racing package adds to the above:
- Throttle
- Steering
- Measured Longitudinal G (braking & acceleration)
The Speed and Lap timing enable the exclusive CDS Performance
monitor features in both the
Co Pilot 2
and the Informer.
The performance monitor feature of the Co Pilot 2
is the only data acquisition tool that helps you improve
performance in the session and lap you are currently driving. All other
data analysis tools can only help after you complete the session and
download the data. See our
Performance Monitor
page for more details.
The
CP+ 2000 package
adds these sensors to the above and enables more in-depth analysis of
driving, handling, gearing and engine performance.
Track Master
will display Braking Gs, Cornering Gs, RPM's in
each gear, gear usage (on a track map), over-revs, lugging, segment
times, speeds, Throttle and Braking on a track map. It will also
calculate and display the CDS exclusive
Handling Analysis including
Over Steer, Under Steer, and Baseline Steer.
The next “step” in a Road Racing package adds to the above:
- Suspension sensors
- The Chassis Animation and Analysis Software option.
Most Pro teams as well as many Club Racers
who run cars with tunable suspension have these sensors on their systems.
The
CP+ 2500
and
CP+ 3000
packages add these sensors to the above and adds in-depth analysis of your chassis to all
of the above described functions.
Track Master
will automatically calculate and display Dynamic
Ride Height, Roll Angles, Pitch Angle, and Shock Velocities as well as
provide an animation of the chassis plane relative to the chassis at
static ride height.
These are the basic levels of systems used in Road Racing today. Many
customers add additional sensors such as Aerodynamic Pressure, Tire Temps,
Brake Rotor Temps, Fuel Flow, Wide Band Air Fuel ratios and many other of
our wide selection of available
Sensors.
