Reading comparison times

Am I reading the comparison times correctly? The line above the zero line means the lap marked + is faster, while below the line is where the + lap is slower? Same for speed? Or is the + lap faster when the line is sloped up, and slower when the slope is down?

+ values of the Cumulative Time comp indicate where the first selected lap is faster. This will be the first one shown in the plot's title bar.
 
The same holds true for the speed comp. Positive is where the first selected lap is faster. This will be the first one shown in the plot's title bar.
 
Rather than trying to remember this, have the speed from one lap plotted as the data source, and overplot the speed from the alp you are comparing to. Look at the speed plots to see which one is faster, then use the cumulative time comp and the speed comp to see what the effect of the difference is.
